Check out our detailed
hardware requirements for more details! Please note, CyclingPeaks WKO+ IS compatible on
64-bit versions of Windows.
Your PC must
meet the minimum requirements of your selected operating system in order to use
CyclingPeaks. You can find them on Microsoft's website:
·
Windows Vista
·
Windows XP Pro
·
Windows XP
Home
·
Windows 2000
·
Windows NT Not Supported
·
Windows ME
·
Windows 98
Requirements
specific to CyclingPeaks, in addition to minimum requirements above, are:
·
Operating
system: Win98, Me, but Windows 2000 or XP is preferred. Some of our tests show that it WILL
work on 64-bit versions of Windows, but we are not supporting this OS at this time.
·
Available
hard disk space: 5MB for the program, plus a very rough estimate of 10MB per
athlete per year. It depends on your power meter recording rate, length of
rides, and number of rides in a year.
·
Super
VGA or better (800 × 600 minimum, 1024x768 or higher recommended) video adapter
and compatible display.
·
Keyboard
and 2-button mouse
·
Serial
port, if you're going to download. We have tested CyclingPeaks with some
USB-to-serial adapters. Since we can't test CyclingPeaks with all of them, it
is not guaranteed CyclingPeaks is compatible with all USB-to-serial adapters.
·
Connection
to the internet is required to download and register CyclingPeaks. Once you've
registered, you don't need an internet connection to run the program.
·
CD-ROM
or DVD-ROM drive if you receive CyclingPeaks on CD-ROM. A connection to the
internet is required to register CyclingPeaks the first time you run it. Again,
once you've registered, you don't need an internet connection to run the
program.
I have a new Ergomo Pro, and have more questions
about the ErgoRacer software

How can I make CyclingPeaks
WKO+ work on a Mac?
CyclingPeaks
WKO+ is NOT natively compatible with MAC OS. However.. read on.
You can use it
with the new Apple ‘DUAL Boot’ system (called Boot Camp available at http://www.apple.com/bootcamp ) and run it in Windows in these systems. You
will need an Intel based Mac to use Boot Camp. Also checkout Parallels http://www.parallels.com for the ability to run WKO+ at the same time as
running the Mac OS. This works great and lets you download devices directly.
Mac Update: We have also seen very positive results of running WKO+ through Parallels. This lets Intel Macs run WKO+ side by side with other native Mac
applications. Please see our blog post here for more instructions, and the Parallels website here.
For Running CyclingPeaks WKO+ in a
Mac, you can also:
- Buy Virtual PC - Windows 2000 version.
While some folks have been able to make the XP version work, generally the
XP version restricts access to Com 1 and Com 2 only. However, since you
will be using a USB/Serial port adapter (See below), you will need access
to Com port 4, as most USB/Serial port adapter's install on Com port 4.
Windows 2000 also runs with less RAM, making it faster.
Click
here to get Virtual PC 7
- Buy extra RAM. You will need at least 512Mb of RAM.
- Buy a USB/Serial port adapter!
You will need this to download your Powermeter as most powermeters come
with a serial cable for downloading the data. It is critical that you get
this working within your MAC OS, and also installed and working in the
Windows 2000 OS. This is the place that most people get stuck. If you
cannot get this to work , then it's likely that the USB/Serial Port
adapter you purchased just will not work with your machine. Buy another.
Some of the most common ones which seem to work generally well are made by
Keyspan. http://www.keyspan.com/products/usb/USA19HS/
- Once these things are installed and in place, then you
can install and run CyclingPeaks.
Do this from 'within' Virtual PC. If you have trouble getting a license
key, then please contact support@cyclingpeakssoftware.com
Are the graphs/charts
customizable?
Yes,
CyclingPeaks WKO+ Software was designed with making custom graphs in mind! For
Example, you can create new chart, clone a chart and adjust the different
metrics that you want to display. Even within each graph there are customizable
features. You can choose to look at the Power output over any time period, and
as a pie chart or as distribution chart. Then within those, you can choose to
see your power by how many watt increments you want (1, 2 ,5, 10, 20 watt
increments.). You can size the graph however you like, zooming in and out and
resizing.
Does CyclingPeaks
Software WKO+ have a diary function?
Yes,
CyclingPeaks is a training diary also. It is not as full featured as the Daily
Log function of TrainingPeaks.com, but it is capable of working with multiple
sports. All of your information entered into your Ride Goal and Notes and anything
entered in the personal settings are logged and searchable
Does CyclingPeaks WKO+ save all the
information/graphs/highlighted areas etc that I create in each file?
Yes,
CyclingPeaks saves all your customized data from each ride into each file named
a .wko (workout). Your ride data will be intact in the manner you left it for
you to view a day from now, year from now, etc.
Is it hard to use
CyclingPeaks WKO+?
It's very easy!
Just come home from your ride, download your Power Meter while you are making
your recovery shake, then instantly see your default graphs and gain insight
into your ride immediately. While sipping on your recovery shake, you can view
and analyze your data, highlighting your intervals and comparing them to each
other. In 5 minutes, you can type in your verbal description of the ride, gain
a HUGE insight into your ride and your fitness and select important areas for
deeper comparisons.
Are Training Stress Score
(TSS), Intensity Factor (IF) and Normalized Power (NP) in CyclingPeaks WKO+?
Yes, they are
built right into the program! It is important that you ‘assign’ a workout to
an athlete in order to have it calculated though. If you just download a file
and do not assign it to an athlete, then TSS/IF will not be calculated.
Can I export the data
from of CyclingPeaks WKO+?
Yes, you can
export the data out as a .csv, .srm txt, .hrm, or computrainer cs .txt to send
to others for viewing in their programs.
Can I instantly 'Find'
how many 'matches' I burned in
a race or workout?
Yes, By using
the 'Find' feature, while viewing the graph, you can determine exactly what you
want to find. Want to see how many times you went over 400watts for any time
period between 15-90 seconds? Not a problem, just plug in the numbers in the
'Find' feature and CyclingPeaks WKO+ instantly finds that for you.
Does CyclingPeaks WKO+ automatically
calculate my "Bests" or "CP" zones for each ride?
Yes! Your Bests
or CP zones are automatically calculated for each ride and presented for you to
see for each ride that you have opened! You can click on the "eye"
and instantly see the peak 30 seconds, etc highlighted on your graph.

Can I select a range of
interest and connect that to another range of interest?
Yes, by
clicking on the "link" symbol , you can instantly connect a series of
important efforts together. Say you did 10 intervals of 2minutes each. You can
use the find feature to instantly have them highlighted, type in one time
-"2 minute effort"- and then click the "link" button for
each following interval. This will give you your rest period and also allow you
to connect those efforts together.
What if I don't have
any data for Power one day? Can I still download my Heart rate monitor and put
that into my database?
Absolutely!
CyclingPeaks WKO+ doesn't need power data to work! You can just have one
component and it will work great!
I am a triathlete and also
mountain bike, but don't have a Power Meter on my mountain bike, can I enter my
mountain bike, swimming and running data also?
Certainly ! You
can enter your data into the diary and also enter "faux" data for
your workout if you like. Let's say that you know that based on your Mt. bike
ride, that an hour up Golden Trail is the same about as your 1.5hour road ride
around the horseshoe Loop. So, grab the file from a "typical"
Horseshoe loop and bring it into your mountain bike ride date!
I need to bring in all
my files from the last year of training. Can CyclingPeaks Software do a “bulk”
import?
Yes,
CyclingPeaks will bulk import Power-Tap .csv, .hrm, computrainer cs .txt, and
.srm files. Just drag and drop all of your files from one folder onto the
CyclingPeaks program and your files are instantly imported into the program.
Simple as that!
Can I email my coach my
workout files?
Yes, when you
are finished viewing your data, while still having the ride open, goto
>FILE< and then click on >Send<. Your email client will be opened
and your file is ready to be sent to your coach or friend! It is also simple to
share your workouts via TrainingPeaks.com with the included “Upload to
TrainingPeaks.com” function. Just download your data, then click “File ->
Upload to TrainingPeaks.com” and your data is stored online where your coach
can access it at any time. Your coach must be using the TrainingPeaks.com Coach
Edition or you can use it for just yourself with a TrainingPeaks.com Athlete
Edition subscription.
I am a coach, can I
view all of my athletes in CyclingPeaks WKO+?
Yes, the
Athlete Edition lets you have 3 athletes, the Unlimited Edition allows you to
track unlimited number of clients. Here you will be able to keep as many
different athletes and all of their data that they send you. Your athlete can
mark up the file (creating ranges, highlighting important parts), and email you
the file. This will reduce your workload considerably and then both of you will
be on the same page as you look at the file together.
We no longer
offer the “coach” version of CyclingPeaks. Just athlete and unlimited.
I am a coach, will
CyclingPeaks help me coach my athletes better?
Absolutely !
This not only will help you coach athletes better, but also make life easier
for you !! CyclingPeaks WKO+ will help you better define strengths and
weaknesses and help to decide when an athlete needs more rest or less.
It will be the
ultimate tool between athlete and coach, as CyclingPeaks WKO+ was designed for
this exact thing.
